Welsh Springer Spaniel

Although possibly sharing common origins with the English Springer, the Welsh Springer Spaniel is generally smaller, has a finer head, and always has rich, dark-red markings on a white coat.

History of Welsh Springer Spaniel

A clue to the possible age of this breed comes from a 16th-century manuscript which refers to what could be an early ancestor of the Welsh Springer Spaniel.

The description “springer” refers to the breed’s ability to “spring” hidden game.
