Flat-coated Retriever

As its name suggests, the coat of this retriever lies close to the body. It is dense and fine-textured, with feathering on the legs and tail.

History of Flat-coated Retriever

Although a British dog, it derives from two American breeds - the Labrador and the Newfoundland.

Remark

The breed declined after the First World War, having been kept largely as a working dog.
