In the past, there was no way to identify the genetics of mixed breed dogs except by their markings and behavior. However, with the advent of dog breed DNA testing kits, owners can now solve the mystery of their pet's heritage.

Dog breed DNA tests can be ordered from many different companies and the reliability of the results may hinge on how many different dog breeds the companies have in their DNA database.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) – Sharee Talbot wants her dog back. For now, though, she has to drive out of town to visit Buddy because the two-year-old pit bull isn’t allowed in her hometown of Aurora.

“Look at him. He’s funny. He’s goofy,” Talbot said on a recent visit with Buddy and his foster family at an Englewood dog park.

Canine Companions for Independance places hundreds of service dogs each year.  Some of the groups' guide puppies are being raised here in Northwest Florida.
   
Last summer we began following "O'Neil".  He's training in Crestview with a seasoned instructor.
His final local exam in the most challenging of places.

Welcoming a pet into a home can be a joyous event. Companion animals have a way of assimilating into a family rather quickly. Some prospective pet owners spend months researching the type of breed they prefer, while others prefer to adopt mixed-breed dogs from a nearby animal shelter.

Purebred and mixed breed dogs both make great pets.
